Initially, JetBlue intends to use the Airbus jet on routes between cities in Florida and cities in the northeastern region of the US, such as Boston and New York City.
“The inaugural flight of our first A220 allows us to continue to run our low-cost business model and allows JetBlue to continue to offer great fares to more customers,” said Ursula Hurley, CEO of the company.

The A220-300
The aircraft has a range of 3,500 nautical miles and a capacity of 140 seats. The A220 will allow operations in different types of markets, whether short-haul or intercontinental flights. The aircraft's maintenance cost is 40% lower, thanks to the Pratt & Whitney GTF PW1500G engines, from the same family as the PW1100G that powers the European manufacturer's larger A321neo/LR/XLR aircraft.
