Available Data Sources
AirNav Systems API's are amongst the most complete, accurate and faster in terms of update rates in the Industry.
Flight data comes from several different data sources. The client can opt to receive data from these data sources independently or in a merged feed.

GROUND BASED ADS-B
ADS-B (Automatic Dependent Surveillance - Broadcast) data contains real-time position information for all of the flights that are being detected by all of the AirNav RadarBox units that are currently online. The data provided by this data source includes altitude, latitude, longitude, speed, heading, call sign, squawk, among other parameters of the aircraft.
Note: Darker areas on the map indicate coverage also at low altitudes.
FAA SWIM (System Wide Information Management) data comes from the FAA radar systems and contains information on virtually all of the flights in the USA (including Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Bermuda and Guam) and Canada. This data source includes not only real-time position data, but also flight plans, departures, arrivals, routes, waypoints, among other fields.
MLAT - MULTILATERATION
This data results from a technique called multilateration. Multilateration or MLAT is a surveillance technique based on the measurement of the difference in distance to three stations at known locations by broadcast signals at known times. This data source allows for tracking of aircraft that are not equipped with ADS-B transponders.

SPACE BASED ADS-B
Oceanic position reports for major trans-oceanic routes. Atlantic and Pacific
Oceans are included. Other regions could also be displayed
HFDL - HF DATALINK
These position reports come from HFDL (High Frequency Data Link), a method by which air traffic controllers can communicate with pilots over a datalink system. Aircraft and ground stations make use of HF radio signals in order to communicate
These position reports come from ADS-C, a method in which the aircraft broadcasts its position at fixed intervals, typically between 5 and 30 minutes. The signals from the aircraft are relayed by geostationary satellites and captured by our satellite dishes installed in several spots around the world.
AUSTRALIA / NEW ZEALAND ANSP
Access to Positional Data, Flight Plans and other Operational information for aircraft operators and airports in Australia and New Zealand.
FLIFO - COMMERCIAL FLIGHT INFORMATION
In addition to the real-time flight position information, the client may opt to also receive the corresponding live commercial data for each flight. Commercial flight data includes the departure time, arrival time, origin airport, destination airport, among other
parameters. This data is provided by several external sources such as airports and airlines.
The client may opt to receive a merged feed, which contains data from all of our available sources organized and prioritized by relevance and accuracy.
