China Eastern Airlines carrying 132 people crashes in China

On Monday, March 21, a China Eastern Airlines Boeing 737-89P (B-1791) carrying 132 passengers crashed into the mountains of south China's Guangxi Province.

The 6-year-old Boeing 737-800 was en route to Guangzhou from Kunming when it lost contact with Air Traffic Control and crashed in rural Wuzhou City, China. According to CAAC, the Chinese Civil Aviation Administration, 123 passengers, and nine crew members were on board.

According to AirNav RadarBox data, the last reported ADS-B message was at 06:22:36 (UTC) and indicated that the aircraft plummeted at a vertical speed of -32,640 feet/min.

Also, according to our data, Guangzhou and Kunming were two routes that were frequently operated by the Chinese airline's 6-year-old Boeing 737. Kunming is the most flown route by the aircraft, followed by Shanghai and Guangzhou, respectively.

Boeing, in a statement, said it was aware of initial media reports and is gathering more information about the crash in southern China. The Chinese government and President Xi Jinping have instructed the country's emergency services to organize search and rescue operations and identify the causes of the aircraft crash.
