Dominican Republic-based airline Sky High took delivery of its E-Jet family plane last week. The carrier will be the first operator of the Embraer E190 family in the Caribbean.

Juan Chamizo Alonso, President of Sky High Aviation, commented: “It’s a huge differentiator for us to be the only operator in the region with E-Jet capability and a great way to celebrate our first 10 years of operations. The addition of the larger, more modern, and capable E190 is the next step in our development and our offering to our customers. The E190 is the perfect aircraft to help manage demand in peak times, as well as to open and maintain the international routes essential for our continued development as a leading Caribbean operator.”

Sky High has a firm order for two Embraer E190s supplied by regional aircraft leasing company TrueNoord. Also, according to sources, the second Embraer E190 is expected to be delivered to SkyHigh next month, completing the two deliveries.

The Dominican Republic airline currently has a fleet of two Embraer ERJ 145s that fly to 10 destinations in the Caribbean, which we can observe on our route heatmap provided by AirNav RadarBox.

The Embraer E190s acquired by the carrier have a 98-seat configuration, divided into two classes. The E190s will serve the current routes operated by the airline and a future expansion plan to North and South America.

VP of Sales and Marketing, The Americas, Embraer Commercial Aviation, Mark Neely, said, “Sky High has been a valued customer since 2019 when they first acquired the ERJ 145s. The addition of the E-190 to its current fleet will more than double Sky High’s capacity, and their customers will benefit from the best-in-class comfort of the E190 two plus two configuration, with no middle seats.”

“Sky High have worked hard to develop and grow a high-quality network in the Caribbean. We are proud to support them as they take the next step in their upward trajectory and commence operations with the much larger E190 aircraft. We see a lot of further opportunities for the type in this region.” added Anne-Bart Tieleman, TrueNoord CEO.
