Delta Air Lines has unveiled plans to expand its fleet with 20 new Airbus A350-1000 widebody aircraft, projecting a total A350 fleet exceeding 60 by the close of the decade. This strategic move is critical to Delta's broader initiative to modernize its fleet, enhance fuel efficiency, and elevate the overall in-flight experience.

The A350-1000 is poised to assume the role of the largest and most advanced aircraft in Delta's arsenal, playing a pivotal role in supporting the airline's global expansion endeavors. Equipped with Rolls Royce Trent XWB-97 engines, these new additions boast a remarkable 20% improvement in fuel efficiency compared to retiring models, aligning seamlessly with Delta's enduring commitment to sustainability.

Noteworthy features of the A350-1000 include increased premium seats, enhanced amenities, and expanded cargo capabilities, primarily focusing on serving long-haul markets and international hubs. Delta has ambitious plans to operate its most extensive international schedule this year, contributing significantly to its global growth trajectory. The agreement with Rolls Royce encompasses comprehensive engine servicing provisions.

While the deal's financial details remain undisclosed, they fall with Delta's previously communicated capital expenditure and capacity targets. With this announcement, Delta's outstanding orders now encompass 284 narrowbody and 48 widebody aircraft for future delivery. Delta Air Lines operates a fleet exceeding 450 Airbus aircraft across all product families, ranging from the A220 to the A350-900, with an additional 200-plus units on order.
