American Airlines sees an increase in the number of flights

According to AirNav RadarBox data, since March 2021, the company has seen an increase in its flight numbers compared to the same period last year.

During March 5th and 11th, there was an increase of +9.34% compared to the same period last year. This increase corresponding to 3,583 flights compared to 3,277 flights in 2020.

While March 12-18 saw even greater growth in-flight flow: +26.03% compared to the same period last year, and +16.7% compared to the previous period (March 5-11). A considerable growth for the airline.

Following the trend, between March 19th and 22nd, the airline saw even more growth: +43.78% compared to the same period last year. But it is worth noting that in this same period last year, the COVID-19 crisis was already bringing strong consequences for the sector, and consequently, for the airline.

And finally, the third most used aircraft by American Airlines is the Embraer E190, with 17 units, an average flight duration of 1.5 hours, 4.9 flights per day, and an average of 7.4 hours of aircraft fleet utilization per day.

One of the reasons for the exponential growth of the airline may be the mass vaccination in the US. Until today, on March 22, about 124,481,412 million vaccines have been administered in the US. And 156,734,555 vaccines have been distributed.

On average, 2.7 to 3 million doses of the vaccine are administered daily in the USA. An impressive number, and one that is expected, within a few months, to immunize the country's entire population.

What increased the numbers of American Airlines flights?

As we can see from our data, the most commonly used aircraft were: Boeing 737, A321, and Embraer E190, as well as routes within the USA.

In other words, domestic flights drove the increase in American Airlines flights. With the restrictions in countries around the world, domestic flights gained strength and boosted the airline's numbers.
