The U.S. government announced last Monday (20) that beginning in early November, it will allow the entry of foreign citizens fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

According to Jeff Zients, head of the White House COVID-19 team, foreign travelers must present a vaccination certificate and a negative test taken up to three days before travel to enter the country. Those who comply with these determinations will not have to undergo a quarantine of 14 days or more.

Furthermore, the U.S. government will also require airlines to collect passenger contact information to track possible transmission or contagion of new variants of COVID-19 within the country.

AirNav RadarBox data shows that commercial flight data for last week (September 11-17) from the US to foreign countries experienced a higher growth rate of +61.97% as compared to domestic flights since 2020.

Commercial Flight Statistics within the USA between September 11-17 (2019, 2020, and 2021)

Last week, the US recorded 148,001 commercial flights with a daily average of 21,143 flights. Compared to September 11-17, 2020, there has been a +48.64% growth in flight volume this year. The reason for this increase in domestic business travel and leisure flights is mass vaccinations and the easing of COVID-19 measures in the country.

US - NON-US Commercial Flight Statistics between September 11-17 (2019, 2020, and 2021)

The figures for commercial flights from September 11-17 correspond to 75% of pre-pandemic (2019) levels. And although the number of flights is much smaller than domestic flights, demonstrating the strength of U.S. domestic aviation, it shows us an increasing trend with the increase in foreign travelers and greater demand for international flights to major U.S. airports. Twenty-seven thousand one hundred thirty-two commercial flights from the US to other countries were reported last week - a daily average of 3,876 commercial flights every day.
