Smartwings is the second airline in Europe to resume flights with the Boeing 737 MAX

On February 25th, 2021, Smartwings' Boeing 737 MAX 8, registered as OK-SWE, performed flight QS1152 from Prague's Vaclav Havel Airport (PRG) to Malaga Airport (MLG) in Spain. Smartwings is the second European airline to return flights with the Boeing 737 MAX on the continent.

Smartwings currently has a fleet of seven Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft. As of March 2019, they were stationed at Prague's Vaclav Havel Airport (PRG) after global downtime following two fatal accidents in Indonesia and Ethiopia.

On January 27th, 2021, EASA issued the final Airworthiness Directive (AD) to land Boeing 737 MAX aircraft in Europe.

On November 18th, 2020, the United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) became the first authority to recertify the Boeing 737 MAX. EASA, Transport Canada (TC), the National Civil Aviation Agency of Brazil (ANAC), the Civil Aviation Authority of Great Britain (CAA) and the Civil Aviation Authority of the United Arab Emirates (GCAA) also recertified. The Boeing 737 MAX, allowing you to resume commercial service.
