Qantas Airways expects all of its Airbus A380s to fly again, a sign that the situation will improve and will make the A380 feasible for operation again.

Alan Joyce, CEO of Qantas, says: “We think we are going to reactivate all A380s. We spend a lot of money on this aircraft, as soon as there is demand, they will be good planes. "

In June 2020, the Australian airline stocked all of its 12 Airbus A380s, stating that it would not use them for at least 3 years.

One of the reasons for the airline's CEO's optimism is the massive vaccination in the main markets where Qantas operates, mainly the USA and the United Kingdom, which are advancing vaccination every day for the entire population.

"Now, if international demand returns earlier than expected, the A380s can be reactivated in three to six months," explained the CEO, adding that, although current demand is low, the company uses twin-engine aircraft such as the Boeing 787s, which are more economical and take long-distance routes.

However, international demand for flights will not reach the pre-pandemic level until 2024. But Qantas Airways has a plan to restart all its international operations in October 2021.

Qantas currently has a fleet of 12 Airbus A380s, part of which are stocked at Victorville Southern California Airport, in the USA.
