Highlights from the Farnborough International Airshow (FIA) 2024

The 2024 Farnborough International Airshow (FIA), one of the world’s most important aerospace events, ended on Friday (26). 286 commercial aircraft were ordered during the event, starkly contrasting the 1,266 orders recorded at the Paris Airshow 2023 and 441 at FIA 2022, as FlightGlobal and Flap International reported. Here’s a summary of the orders registered this year: 

1. ATR (Avions de transport régional/Aerei da Trasporto Regionale)

  1. Air Tahiti: ATR 72-600 (4) – Firm Orders

2. Airbus

  1. Druk Air: A320neo (3) and A321XLR (2) – MoU
  2. VietJet: A330-900 (20) – Firm Order
  3. Virgin Atlantic: A330-900 (7) – Firm Order
  4. Japan Airlines: A350-900 (20) – Firm Order
  5. Berniq Airways: A320neo (6) – Firm Order
  6. Flynas: A330-900 (15) and A320neo (75) – MoU
  7. Abra: A350-900 (5) – MoU

Total: 153 units, with 53 firm orders.

3. Boeing

  1. Korean Air: 787-10 (20) and 777-9 (20) – MoU
  2. Korean Air: 787-10 (10) – Purchase Option
  3. National Air Cargo: 777F (4) – Firm Order
  4. Luxair: 737 MAX 10 (4) – Two firm orders and two purchase options
  5. Japan Airlines: 787-9 (20) – Ten firm orders and ten purchase options
  6. Macquarie AirFinance: 737 MAX 8 (20) – Firm Order
  7. Qatar Airways: 777-9 (20) – Firm Order

Total: 118 units, with 56 firm orders.

4. Embraer

  • Defence Orders:
    1. Paraguay: Six Super Tucano aircraft.
    2. Netherlands and Austria: Nine C-390 Millennium aircraft.

The substantial decrease in orders at this year's Farnborough Airshow indicates a more cautious outlook within the aerospace industry compared to previous years.
