Global Air Traffic Posts Double-Digit Growth Exceeding 40% And Reaching 96% of Pre-Pandemic Levels

According to RadarBox data, 596,120 commercial flights were recorded during January 2nd and January 8th, with a daily average of 85,160 flights worldwide. This corresponds to a growth of 40% compared to flights in the same period last year. This is evidence of a gradual resumption of international commercial flights. In the same 2021 period, 418,929 commercial flights were registered, with a daily average of 63,293 commercial flights. This data represents 96% of pre-pandemic numbers and 85% of 2020 numbers.

US domestic flights maintain a considerable portion of these figures, with an average of 22,764 flights registered daily and a total of 159,348 domestic flights. Europe has been recording 15,598 commercial flights daily and a total of 109,186 flights, posting a growth of 136.98%.

China recorded 61,782 domestic flights and 9,285 daily flights, ranking third behind the US and Europe. As for international flights, 5859 international flights were recorded with a daily average of 837 flights originating from China to other countries.
