The Estonian airline Marabu has achieved a remarkable milestone by securing its Air Operator Certificate (AOC) and Operating License. The achievement marks a significant breakthrough for the fledgling airline.
Paul Schwaiger, CEO of Marabu, commented: "We are extremely grateful to the Estonian authorities for the great cooperation that allowed us to establish and set up Marabu in four months,"
According to Paul, launching the new airline in Estonia was marked by low bureaucratic hurdles and exceptional teamwork. Schwaiger credits the cooperation between his team, relevant public authorities, and Estonian partners Xfly and Nordica for the smooth establishment and setup of the airline. This positive experience bodes well for the future success of Marabu as it prepares to take flight.
"I am impressed by how digitalized the Estonian society is and also by how efficiently the Estonian Transport Administration works to support the industry. This is exactly the environment new companies need for starting up," Schwaiger added.
"There has been little time for Marabu to get everything in place in order to be able to start operating from Munich and Hamburg with the A320neo fleet this upcoming summer. I am both proud and impressed by the competence and team spirit that the staff at Marabu have shown in order to establish a new Estonian airline in a record short time," says Jan Palmer, the CEO of Nordic Aviation Group.
"We are happy to see that we have a new ambitious airline creating jobs in the field of aviation in Estonia," Tanel Rautits, the Head of Safety and Supervision Department at the Estonian Transport Administration, greets the AOC issuing.
Earlier this year, the Nordic Aviation Group and Marabu entered into a long-term service agreement, wherein the former will provide a range of operational and support services to the newly established airline. As part of the deal, Nordica, a subsidiary of the Nordic Aviation Group, will operate three top-of-the-line Airbus A320neo aircraft on behalf of Marabu, enabling the airline to offer efficient and comfortable flights for its passengers.

The airline's inaugural commercial flight took place on April 15, with the first flight from Munich to Tallinn scheduled for May 21 and the first flight from Tallinn to Hamburg set for June 16.
Marabu's initial routes will connect popular holiday destinations along the Mediterranean Sea, the Canary Islands, the Red Sea, and its home base in Estonia, with flights departing from Munich and Hamburg.
