Boeing 777X is undergoing design changes
Part of the latest delays faced by the Boeing 777X is the result of changes that the manufacturer has been making to the aircraft, including modifications to actuator controls, in order to meet the expectations of regulators.
The company is "making prudent design modifications as needed," said Boeing CEO David Calhoun of the 777X's development program. The announcement was made during the disclosure of financial results for the year 2020.
Boeing is working on "firmware and hardware changes" involving actuator controls, Calhoun adds, saying the change "reflects the expectations of global regulators".
Just yesterday, Boeing confirmed the delay in delivery of the 777-9X, whose first unit is due to be received by the customer in late 2023. The previous forecast was for 2022. Last year, Calhoun stated that the 777X certification process reflects learning from 737 MAX certification.
