Alaska Airlines orders 23 Boeing 737 MAX

Boeing announced last week that Alaska Airlines had ordered 23 Boeing 737 MAX 9s, with the option to extend the order to 15 more aircraft, for a total of 38 aircraft.

With the new order, the company's total order of the Boeing MAX 9 totals 120 aircraft. According to Boeing, Alaska began receiving brand-new Boeing jets in January of this year, and the first aircraft entered service on March 1st.

"We believe in this aircraft, we believe in our strong partnership with Boeing, and we believe in the future of Alaska Airlines and the incredible opportunities ahead of us as we scale our way out of this pandemic," said Brad Tilden, Alaska Air Group CEO.

The airline currently has a fleet of: 2 - Boeing 737 MAX 9, 2 - Boeing 737-4Q8QC, 14 - Boeing 737-790, 50 - Boeing 737-890, 82 - Boeing 737-900ER, 9 - Airbus A321neo, 10 - Airbus A319, 50 - A320, and an Embraer E170-200LR unit.
